Announcements

April 2, 2012

Dear Clubs, Sponsors, Partners, and other Friends,

It has recently come to the attention of the USPSA/SCSA board of directors that rumors have been circulating that USPSA is considering offering the Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championship (SCWSSC), the Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA), and/or the Scholastic Steel Challenge (SSC) program for sale. The purpose of this letter is to answer those rumors with an emphatic “no.” None of those entities are for sale nor is a sale anticipated in the future.

The board of directors met telephonically on the evening of April 1, 2012, and made that decision formally by a unanimous vote. They also renewed USPSA’s commitment to making SCSA and SSC the successful programs that we all want them to be.

All of the programs listed above operate under the auspices SCSA, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of USPSA.

It is true that there have been changes made in the marketing of SCSA. Those changes were done for budgetary reasons and, unfortunately, involved severing our relationship with several people. The USPSA Directors are in the process of redefining the direction and means of our marketing and will announce changes very soon.

If you have any questions concerning this issue, please address them to USPSA President Phil Strader (president@uspsa.org).

Respectfully,

Dave Thomas

USPSA Executive Director

FORT BENNING, Ga. — The U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) is excited to announce that the inaugural Army Strong Collegiate Shooting Championships, on course to be the biggest multiple-discipline, shoulder-to-shoulder gathering of collegiate and junior shooters in the history of competitive shooting, will commence March 13-18 at Fort Benning, GA

The dynamic format will draw the top college and junior shooters from the entire country competing in four distinct championships: Scholastic Steel Challenge (SSC) Collegiate Championships, the National Rifle Association Intercollegiate Pistol Championships; the NRA Intercollegiate Rifle Club Championship; and the Scholastic Clay Target Program Challenge (SCTP).

The SSC Collegiate Championships is scheduled for March 17 and expects a full match. SSC partners Glock and Smith & Wesson will have loaner guns for teams that are accustomed to traveling with firearms. Ammunition from Atlanta Arms and Ammunition will be available on a presale basis (and shipped to the teams at the match) so squads will not have to ship ammo. Junior / Senior High Schools teams are also invited to shoot. These teams will be shooting for the title of Top Gun of the SSC Junior / Senior Invitational at The SSC Collegiate Championships. For those teams wishing additional information on the Championships and how to register or prepay for ammo visit www.scholasticsteelchallenge.com or contact: Scott Moore by email or by phone at 602.930.7778.
