First Shots Program Making Another Appearance At This Year’s Steel Challenge Championships

NSSF will once again be offering their outstanding FIRST SHOTS program at the 2008 Steel Challenge.
“NSSF’s First Shots® shooting program provides quality instruction that emphasizes firearm safety and gives newcomers an opportunity to give shooting a try. It is one of many NSSF programs that are advancing participation and understanding of the shooting sports.”

USPSA Purchases the Steel Challenge
The United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) announced that it has acquired the Steel Challenge and the Steel Challenge Shooting Association from founders Mike Dalton and Mike Fichman.
“The Steel Challenge is a natural fit for USPSA and we look forward to both growing the match as well as Steel Shooting in general,” said Dave Thomas, Executive Director of USPSA. “One of our primary goals is to greatly expand the role of the Steel Challenge Shooting Association here in the US and internationally. Working closely with our more than 16,000 members and 350 affiliated clubs, we see a very bright future for the Steel Challenge.”
The Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships were founded in 1981 with just 70 shooters competing for $20,000 in cash and prizes that first year. In the 26 years since, the match has grown to become one of the crown jewels of the shooting circuit and the premier professional pistol competition with more than 220 of the world’s fastest shooters competing for over $390,000 in cash and prizes in 2007.

Shooting Gallery Named Official TV Show of the Steel Challenge
Sedro-Woolley, Washington — The Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA) and Shooting Gallery, the Outdoor Channel’s top-rated shooting series, today announced the selection of Shooting Gallery as the official television show of the 2008 Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships.
Washington State Steel Challenge a Success!
The results are now up for the recently completed Washington State Steel Challenge and it sounds like a good time was had by all.

64 shooters made a tremendous effort to beat MGM’s targets into submission.
A few of you managed a temporary compliance by cutting the 2 by 4 upright in half, sending the offending plate to the ground only to have it returned to its place of defiance ready for your next barrage.
